From manufacturer:
Based off of Keith Merrow's USA MKIII Studio model, the Schecter KM-7 MK-III Artist is tailor-made for modern metal. Benefit from exotic looks, along with a robust natural tone and resonance, thanks to a poplar burl-topped swamp ash body. Plug in and enjoy warm, gritty humbucking tones from a duo of Keith Merrow Custom Series Fishman Fluence pickups. This guitar's 9-piece wenge/maple/purple heart neck is stable, fast, and comfortable, while its neck-through construction ensures maximum sustain. The KM-7 MK-III Artist includes an Ernie Ball compensated nut and Hipshot locking tuners for rock-solid intonation.
Poplar burl-topped swamp ash body
The KM-7 MK-III Artist's poplar burl-topped swamp ash body gives it unique style and flavor. These tonewoods sound incredible — experience a balanced blend of brightness and warmth, along with plenty of midrange "pop." Filled wood grain on the poplar burl supplies eye-popping looks and a smooth texture, while the swamp ash is coated with a thin semi-gloss finish that's sure to impress. This guitar's beveled top provides exceptional comfort for hours of playing. Finally, a Hipshot hardtail bridge accentuates the body's natural sustain, while its low profile provides excellent control during speed picking.
Keith Merrow signature humbucker set
Anyone familiar with Keith Merrow knows that he's a tone fanatic. And up until now, he's been a hard-nosed passive pickup devotee. He loves their earthy tone. He revels in the way that a passive pickup responds to his pick attack. Only Fishman's Fluence technology could inject an active pickup with the tone, feel, and dynamics of Keith's favored passive humbuckers, without the technological constraints of traditional designs. Conquering dystopia requires killer tone, and the Schecter KM-7 MK-III Artist's Keith Merrow Custom Series pickups deliver the goods.
A neck meant for metal
The KM-7 MK-III Artist's 9-piece wenge/maple/purple heart neck is a must-feel experience. This beautiful ensemble of woods provides stability for the neck's Ultra Thin KM profile — a favorite feature among players here at Sweetwater. It stays out of the way as your fingers cruise up and down the KM-7 MK-III Artist's ebony fingerboard. Enjoy easy chording and wide bending without inhibiting your playing, thanks to the fingerboard's compound radius. Beyond that, this guitar's 26.5" scale length is ideal for modern metal, whether playing in standard or drop tunings. And its carbon fiber reinforcement rods and spoke wheel truss rod adjustment keep the neck right where you need it.
