The idea for this pedal came from conversations between Duffy from Backroads and Marcus about making a mid boost pedal that offers more than an overdrive or buffer. The idea was to add "more amp". What Duffy has found is that a mid boost has a magic vibe that add harmonic complexity to an electric guitar's signal chain, thus making what comes out the speaker sound more alive and robust than using a standard overdrive pedal.The inspiration started from Duffy's prized Boss FB-2 Feedback Booster. While it did a great job adding clean headroom and boost with the midrange, it made the top end treble sound spikey and unmusical. It also removed low end and would need another EQ pedal in the effects loop to bring the warmth and strong low end. What ended up happening is when the FB-2 was tuned off the remaining tone that was dialed in sounded pillow-y and woof-ey to compensate, and the high end lacked clarity. The amp was not performing at its best, it was being tweaked to compensate for the boost.

These problems Marcus addressed directly with the all analog Los Alamos Amp Enhancer! After you have dialed your amp tone, turn on the Los Alamos Amp Enhancer and hear for yourself how this pedal doesn't change your amp, but opens up the top end clarity,  strengthens the low end, adds harmonic complexity, as well as adds musical saturation to your gain. There are 4 simple but powerfully effective knobs on this pedal to help your amp achieve tones otherwise unavailabe from normal methods:

The most obvious among them is the oversized MIDS knob. This is the heart and soul of this pedal and where all the magic is. This unique and first of its kind mid range circuit has been custom designed by Marcus specifically for the Los Alamos Amp Enhancer. On most amps you will hear more gain from your pre-amp when the dial is turned clockwise.

The three knobs on the left work in conjunction with the MIDS knob.

First is the TILT knob on the top left. This is not a typical 'Tone' knob that is a treble roll off. At noon this knob is even treble and even bass. Turn it to the left and you'll hear more low end and less top end. By turning this to the right you achieve the opposite. This is useful when used in conjunction with the MIDS knob.

Second below the TILT knob is the 100HZ knob. This is the prefect low end frequency for electric guitar that would otherwise get lost in other overdrive pedals. Now you can dial that warmth back in to your amp!

Lastly is the VOLUME knob. There is a lot of range in this knob so you can dial in exactly what works best for your amp!

The Los Alamos Amp Enhancer runs off standard 9 Volt DC and has a stage ready bright blue LED when activated.
